Dr. Jerry Roe, Senior Pastor
Jerry was born to Jerry and Annacarolyn Roe in San Antonio,
Texas on October 24, 1959. He has lived in several places in the United States including, Texas, New Jersey, Missouri, Kansas,
California, New York, Alabama, and Georgia. Our pastor is a 1978 graduate of Foothill High School in Tustin, California. and
holds a B.S. from the University of State of New York in Albany, New York, a Masters in Divinity (summa cum laude) [1999]
from Erskine Theological Seminary in due West, South Carolina and a Doctor of Ministry (summa cum laude) [2006], also from
Erskine. He served in the United States Navy from 1980 - 1986 as a nuclear reactor operator and engineering watch supervisor
on board the USS William H. Bates (SSN 680) in San Diego, California. From 1986 - 1989, Jerry was a control room operator
at the Tennessee Valley Authority’s Brown’s Ferry Nuclear Plant near Athens, Alabama. From 1989-1997, Dr. Roe
worked for General Electric, Nuclear Energy as an engineer and Nuclear Services Manager. Jerry answered the call to ministry
in 1992 and has served several churches in the South Georgia Conference of the United Methodist Church including, Oak Park
UMC, Center UMC, Ruth’s Chapel UMC, Alamo UMC, St. Mark UMC, Epworth UMC (Jesup) and Byron UMC. He has a passion for preaching and teaching God’s Word and leading congregations.
He is best known for his “sheep stories” which draws us closer to the Good Shepherd, Our Lord, Jesus Christ. Jerry
is also very interested in spiritual formation, ecclesiology, church planting and biblical archaeology. He has traveled extensively
around the world and has especially enjoyed his travels to Israel, Greece, and Turkey. Jerry enjoys sports (especially baseball
and football), Flying (N11638), reading and amateur radio (KI4YIF). Jerry is married to Gina Faye White Roe, the recently retired Assistant School Superintendent for the Wheeler County
School System, and has two sons, Joshua Roe and Sean Dixon. His Mother Annacarolyn; sister, Sheila, and brother Brian live
near Topeka, Kansas.
